Rob Howitt - Company Director - DVSA Approved Motorcycle Instructor
I am one of the Directors at RJH Motorbike Training Ltd, which I founded in 2003. There is a good chance that you would have met me at some point at one of our bike schools. I have found that combining both my passions and my enjoyment into my career, means that I look forward to getting up in the morning and going to work. I really am Living the dream!
I enjoy touring Europe and my latest passion is filming my travels, lessons and riding with full HD footage and developing our YouTube channel.
I am DVSA Cardington accredited for the following:
• CBT – Compulsory basic training
• Direct Access – Instructor training
I am also able to develop your riding further to an advanced standard. RJH are DVSA approved, MCIAC accredited and a KRTS provider.
I look forward to seeing you soon at one of our bike schools across the North West.
Lisa Simpson - Company Director
I am one of the Directors of RJH having joined the company in 2010.
Due to an unfortunate family bereavement last year, I have been a rather silent member of the RJH family. After passing my ‘booking office’ role over to my son Charlie (who has done an incredible job), I am now able to assist in the expansion of the RJH sites and various other aspects of running the business.
There is a vast amount of ‘behind the scenes’ work involved and I will be assisting Rob as much as possible. From joining the company in 2010, with one small site in Congleton, to where it is now, I am expecting my role to vary considerably over the next few years and am looking forward to the challenge.
I hope to return to the office on a regular basis so I hope to meet past, present and future pupils in person and I would also like to take this opportunity of thanking Rob, Charlie and everyone at RJH for their support and understanding this past year.
Watch out – the boss is back!
Sylvia Eager - DVSA Instructor - Northwich & Wigan Multisite Training Centre Manager
Graham Cook - DVSA Instructor & Manchester's Training Centre Manager
I am the training centre manager at our Manchester centre, I am a DVSA instructor at RJH able to teach CBT.
I took motorcycling up seriously some 10 years ago although I have been riding scooters and motorbikes since at the age of 17. I have ridden a variety of Japanese motorbikes including Kawasaki, Yamaha and Honda. My favourite is the one I ride now which is a Honda.
I ride bikes in all weather conditions, on all road types and during many traffic conditions. I trained at RJH in Manchester on one of their instructor courses with the master himself Rob Howitt. I undertook and successfully completed a 2-day assessment at the DVSA in Cardington and gained my CBT Instructors badge.
I continued to develop my instructor qualifications and I am now approved to teach direct access too.
I gained my gold award in advanced riding and went on to become an advance riding tutor. I am now enjoying making more people safer on the roads and sharing my knowledge and skills of motorcycling.
We are getting fantastic reviews on our website with trainees that have enjoyed their time with us on their CBT & DAS courses. I look forward to meeting you all soon.
John Bilbrough - DVSA approved CBT/DAS Motorbike Instructor
I’ve had a life long love affair with anything two or four wheels.
I was fortunate enough to have a dad who was bike mad and he had me on trial bikes from the age of 7 years old – but had impatient instructor who’s expectations where above and beyond my ability resulting in lots of tumbling off the bike!
I got onto the road at 16 on the obligatory Fs1e and passed my test at 17 with the old Star rider training scheme and also had been racing circuits from my early teens on and off.
I then got addicted to motorsport and was heavily involved in competitive rallies!
My first teaching appointment was at the John Hogland Rallye school in Norway developing driving on snow and ice and after taking early retirement and handing the family business to the kids I started working as a motorcycle instructor and have been developing my training techniques over the last 11-12 years.
I still compete in national and international motorcycle rally events when not curtailed by Covid-19 restrictions!
Ashley Duncan - DVSA Approved CBT Motorbike Instructor
Hi I’m Ashley Biking is a huge part of my life, I enjoy big adventures on big bikes and have ridden long overland cross country trips 2 up! Whether on or off roading, I love being on two wheels and how good it makes us feel. I’m an advocate for Advanced rider training and have taken part in the Bike Safe & IAM schemes and I am currently a Cardington Qualified CBT Instructor for RJH at Northwich. My next goal is to become Direct Access Qualified. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Jon Howells – DVSA Approved CBT Motorbike Instructor
I have started delivering CBT’s at RJH Eccles after spending 2 years at another training school. I have a full-time job as a secondary school teacher and have been at the same school for the past 15 years.
I love teaching and I love bikes therefore becoming a motorbike instructor seemed like a good idea. I plan to build my instructing skills and qualifications at weekends and during school holidays.
I first started riding when I completed my DAS in 2008. I got a 2014 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer and my mate immediately took me on one of my first trips up a set of hairpins to see if I would fall off! I now ride a 2009 Suzuki V Strom 650 which I have had since new. This bike has taken me everywhere without a single issue and although it is getting on now I can’t bring myself to part with it.
The best thing about motorcycling for me is touring. As well as multiple trips to Scotland, Wales and the lakes I have been to Gibraltar twice with Pete who is another RJH instructor and last year I went to the Alps with another mate. The Alps were incredible and I plan on returning as soon as possible. I also did a lap of the Nürburgring during the same trip.
I also enjoy filming my trips, editing and uploading them to YouTube.
Hoping to see you soon and getting you started on your first motorcycle adventure.
Pete Ramsay – DVSA CBT Motorbike Instructor
I completed my 10-day Instructor training course at RJH in December 2019.
I have previously worked in Education for over 25 years as a secondary school teacher, senior leader and headteacher. I now aim to channel my years of teaching experience into training safe and competent bikers.
I first started riding on my sixteenth birthday and travelled all over the north-west on a 50cc moped until passing my driving test a couple of years later. That was the end of my riding career until 2005, when my longing for another bike got too much and I bought a 125 which I kept for several years.
In 2012 I then took the plunge and booked a DAS package with RJH in Manchester, never thinking for a moment that I’d one day be back wearing an instructor’s vest. I love to travel on my bike and take regular trips to the Lakes or Wales, and I’ve twice ridden through France and around Spain to the Costa Del Sol and my spiritual home of Gibraltar.
I’m looking forward to meeting you and learning of your own reasons for joining the biking community.
Nicholas Macmillan - DVSA CBT Motorbike Instructor
I attended one of Rob’s evening workshops at the end of March 2021 straight after lockdown 3 eased, as I was unemployed and wanted to change my career. I then completed my 10-day Instructor training course with RJH at the beginning of April 2021.
I’ve put in so much time and effort and the support from RJH team has been fantastic. If I can do it so can you so join one of RJH’s workshops soon.
I signed up straight away and here I am 5 weeks later working as much as I want, teaching CBT’s across RJH’s three sites in Manchester, Northwich and Wigan.
I have owned various motorbikes and my current ride is a lovely Yamaha TDM900 which is great for the job. I love to travel and explore different places and look forward to passing on my experiences to you. I look forward to meeting you all soon during your training with RJH.
Scott Jones - DVSA CBT Motorbike Instructor
After successfully completing my instructor training with RJH I was happy to accept a position on the team as a CBT instructor. My experience and passion for motorcycles goes back to my youth. I’ve had a number of road bikes since gaining my licence back in 1994, if I had to pick the one I wished I’d kept it would be my Suzuki RGV 250 2 stroke, a sensible choice for my first bike (if not a little bit quick)!
Like most of the team at RJH I’ve covered many miles and events on two wheels and if I had to pick my favourite adventure then it would be the Isle of Man TT every time. Over the last 10 years I’ve worked as a musician and I’m hoping to be able to mix the two very different occupations and enjoy both (as soon as lockdown is over). Although working your passion isn’t really a job, it’s more a pleasure.
I look forward to meeting you all at one of RJH Motorbike Training’s schools very soon.
Sophie Utley - DVSA CBT Motorbike Instructor
After recently taking part in RJH’s Instructor Training Course I am now a CBT instructor where I aim to be DVSA accredited in DAS and Advanced Training.
I enjoy bike adventures with no schedule in the sunshine. I spend my days off finding winding routes and leading group rides. Motocross, track days you name it – I love it!
Biking makes me feel free, happy and satisfied – something I want to share with everyone and experience that joy.
I hope to meet you soon and help you live the dream!
Steve Blewitt - DVSA CBT Motorbike Instructor
Having initially walked into RJH Northwich in October 2020 to enquire about some advanced rider training, I noticed a sign for instructor training workshops. As I was looking for a change in direction at that time, I thought why not and signed up for the DAS instructor package just a few days later. Unfortunately, the country went back into national lockdown and my workshop was postponed in November 2020 and again in January 2021. I eventually attended a 5-day course in April 2021 and having put in many hours since I have finally joined the RJH team as a CBT instructor.
My interest in motorbikes goes back as far as I can remember, so the opportunity to be around others with the same passion is my ideal lifestyle change, having previously worked in the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain for many years.
I am looking forward to meeting and welcoming all future trainees to life on two wheels.
Charlie Simpson - Bookings & Business Development Assistant
I am delighted to be joining the family business and becoming one of the RJH Team on a full-time basis.
I will be assisting in the ever-growing booking office and developing my skills in supporting the business in all areas such as finance administration and marketing.
I will be based within the training centre dividing my time between sites. I will hopefully see some of you there or have the pleasure in taking your calls.
I hope to be a contributing factor in the future growth of the business.
Oliver James - Content & Social Media Manager
I’m head of social media and marketing and I am Rob’s eldest of 3. I am based down in The Cotswolds, so you won’t see much of me. But I lurk in the background ensuring content is up to date and bringing you all news and updates. If you’re lucky, you may bump into me on one of my rare visits!
